Certified Rare Chumash Engraved Stone Tablet Fragment – California – Bennett COA. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, Chapter 14. Artifact Info: Native American, Chumash, Malaga Cove California. The incredible archaeological interpretation of this rare artifact engravings are related to astrological events; with additional interpretation that the Chumash used these objects to observe the solstices. These types of artifacts are known as “portable cosmos” which refer to the universe and are small enough to be carried versus large stone petroglyphs that are permanent structures. This artifact was part of a 1920’s private collection found at Malaga Cove California, what is now known as archaeological site CA-LAN-138. This is a rare artifact from an early discovery of this site. Double sided Incised (Engraved) Stone Tablet fragment, with different engravings on bothsides. This artifact is fragile, siltstone is a very light-weight stone type. Size: Small, 2-7/16 inch x 1-1/16 inch. Location Found: Malaga Cove, California. Shrines were locations where offerings were given for different reasons. They would come together there for their necessities and pilgrimages. Shrines were also used to commemorate the dead. Shrines are also known to have been used for winter solstice ceremonies, which were vital to the Chumash in perpetuating their relationship with the universe and especially the Sun, Kakunupmawa Hudson et al. 1977; Hudson and Blackburn. This is an impressive Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver pendant necklace with a large squared. # 8 Turquoise stone. Bordering the pendant are fabulous graduating Silver raindrops with circular patterns and a large silver bail which will accommodate a larger chain up to 1/2″ x 3/8″. The pendant measures around 2″ x 1″ including the large Silver bail. The long Sterling Silver Chain is absolutely stunning in itself with unusual links and hand-made decorative attachments with a lobster clasp. The Artist’s stamp is on an attached Sterling silver tag to the chain. Chain is 28 long with a 14′ drop. Signed by Navajo Artist BD Bennett. This is a lot of 7 different pieces of Turquoise Lots and Lots of Turquoise. This was all my grandfathers and fathers stuff. From the 70′ I think but not sure. The Turquoise Silver Bolo Tie Signed stone is HUGE about 2 1/2 inches long and almost 1 3/4 inches wide. It’s beautiful and there is another stone at the bottom of the tie that is about 1/2 wide very nice plus two red stones. This also has a cool cougar dog cat not really sure which it is but rare. I also has the two watch bands that have the same animal with a. I think it silver but i’m not sure. There is another small necklace with 3 stones in it. There is a ring I got no clue about it. There is a solid brass belt buckle with stones but there are 5 missing I counted 25 stones. There is a watch that has bear paws on each side. I don’t know alot about this stuff at all I’m not a collector of this kind of stuff. My father is no longer with us and times are tough right now with everything that is going on so I have decided to part with some of the things my dad loved although i hate doing this i have no choice.
