This antique Passamaquoddy sewing basket originates from Maine and is intricately braided with sweetgrass, reflecting the craftsmanship of the Passamaquoddy tribe. Perfect for collectors of Native American artifacts, this basket is a unique and historically significant piece that embodies the traditional artistry of the Passamaquoddy people. I have no provenance on this piece. It was acquired as part of a large collection of Victorian sewing items. Measures 12 inches in diameter. Pictures are of the exact item that you’ll be receiving. Leslie Marmon Published by Flood Plain Press, 2nd edition, 1993; (trade) edition, SIGNED by the author on the title page; very good paperbound wraps; 84pp, illustrated throughout b+w photos, An autobiographical narrative, with emphasis on the importance of water. Was born in 1948 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Growing up on a reservation, she went to Bureau of Indian Affairs schools before attending the University of New Mexico. She taught at the Navajo Community College in Arizona and is a professor of English at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Marmon has written short stories, poetry, plays and novels. Her books include Laguna Woman, Ceremony and Yellow Woman.
