Carinated Double Row Needlepoint Ring. Signed by silversmith REX. This gorgeous ring has 10 tiny cabochons of hand-cut natural turquoise, set with handmade. The ring is carinated and has 5 turquoise gems on each side. Because this ring is vintage and made with natural turquoise, the turquoise ranges. In color from green to blue. It is typical for natural turquoise to change color over time. “Greasy green” and it is quite desirable. I’m not sure whether to call the shape of the stones needlepoint or petit point because. Although they have points on either end (needlepoint hallmark), they are not straight. Like most needlepoint designs, rather they are slightly larger in the center. Front part of ring with stones measures 5/8″ wide and 1/4″ long. Band measures just under 1/4 wide all the way around. Weighs 4.05 grams. Hallmarked REX and tested as sterling silver. 1860s CDV photo showing a woman posing with her husband, who to my eye appears to be Native American… “Americanized” Native Americans were not uncommon, however a mixed marriage would have been extremely rare. The woman also appears to be pregnant, wearing maternity style clothing. A very interesting image… They are not identified on the image, but on the album page this CDV was originally in was written “Mudge”, I believe.. Whether referring to him, her or neither I have no idea. Philadelphia studio backmark, which is printed upside down, as shown. 4″ x 2.5″. Very good antique condition, slightly bumped bottom-left corner.

Rare 6-Foot-Tall Native American Beaded and Feathered Coup Staff. Rare one of a kind not often available. Size: 72 inches tall and about 12 inches wide at the widest point of the curved end. Exceptional and beautiful handmade beaded and feathered Native American art piece. 22 Feathers (Feathers attached to staff with rawhide). Rawhide wrap in certain sections and trade cloth with brass studs set into it in addition to the exquisite beading. Large full size 6 feet high with wood hook staff and the end of the staff at the bottom of the stick/staff is 9-1/2 inches of dark colored wood with hanging quills attached with raw hide straps. Dangling pieces of tan leather strips and red and black trade cloth are hanging from the bells near the top of the staff. Very nice detail and craftsmanship and very nice condition for its age.
