RARE Vintage Zuni Bee Necklace & Earrings by master silversmith SENSA EUSTACE

SENSA EUSTACE Bee Necklace w/ Earrings. This is a rare, signed set of an inlaid “squash blossom” necklace and earrings by Sensa Eustace, a Zuni master artist whose work is highly sought after. It was this artist who created this unique and eye-catching design. She began working in the pre-70s and began stamping her work in the 70s. This outstanding set of “BEES” carries her handwritten signature… She has used a variety of stones to craft these lovely pieces… Abalone, mother-of-pearl, coral, jet, turquoise, and shells. Sensa Eustace, Zuni, was the daughter of Blake and Velma Lesansee, and the aunt of Daryl Shack, Sr. And the great-aunt of Daryl Shack, Jr. She originated the bee, dragonfly, and firefly in her own jewelry and also in her parents Velma and Blake’s jewelry. They never put it on display. I found it hidden with other gems in my inheritance. At 15, it works well as a choker, but I imagine most people would use a small extender. It has matching earrings. Stone: The tail sections are abalone shell that shifts between an earthy tan/gray and white depending on the light. The wings and head are mother-of-pearl. The eyes are jet or onyx, and the bodies contain coral. There are also Turquoise stones in this piece. Necklace Size: Appx 15 long. Pierced Earrings: 1 1/2″ x 3/4″. I can only base it on why my dad taught me when he repaired jewelry. I test stones with the hot needle test, and if silver isn’t marked as sterling or 925, I will test it with a magnet and ice. I do my best to document my items accurately. The only reason we will accept a return is if I accidentally misrepresent an item. Please contact me prior to leaving feedback should this be the case.
