This is a rare early Hopi pueblo chili bowl. It looks to date to the late 19th century. It measures 8 1/4″ across by 2 1/2″ high. This pot is in all original great condition with no restoration. It shows signs of normal wear. The rim has some slight abrasion which is typical for a bowl of this age. There are no cracks. The paint looks pretty good. Made this pair of vintage Hopi silver overlay cufflinks. The quality of the work can be seen in the way the precisely cut design in the upper layer of silver stands out against the deeply oxidized lower layer of silver. Each cufflink measures 1? X? Inch. The pivoting posts and swivel bars are in good working order. The backs are stamped SAKYESVA with a pair of tadpoles (the hallmark of Harry Sakyesva). 1971 was a highly skilled and historically significant Hopi silversmith, well known for his excellent silverwork and for teaching smithing to Wayne and Emory Sekaquaptewa, brothers who subsequently started Hopi Enterprises (later Hopicrafts). Harry’s work, rare to the market and prized by collectors, is described in leading publications on the art form, including Wright (1994), Schaaf (2003), and Hougart (2019).

What makes these iced tea spoons rare is that iced tea spoons are rarely made from an ingot of melted silver coins. These were, and have been tested. Also, these iced tea spoons were sculpted and shaped solely by simple tools and traditional methods used by early Navajo, Hopi and Pueblo silversmiths. Three different stamps on the spoons can be identified as hand made. One spoon has some scratches on the bottom of the bowl that can be easily polished/buffed or left as is. Please enlarge photos as they are an important part of the description. The six spoons weigh approximately 152 grams, and are all slightly over 8 inches long. As to be expected, all spoons vary slightly in weight and length. Circa 100 years old. Please feel free to ask questions.

Title is sellers best guess so please allow photos to provide details. I believe this is a Native American Hopi basket with leather buckskin surrounding the rim. The basket is in wonderful condition and measures approximately 10×5. The leather has some areas of wear and there are a few missing rivets but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of piece. I believe originally there was another piece of leather that covered the bottom and this is why the bottom has less patina present. Unfortunately I’m not sure when this was created but appears to be an older piece. Please see photos for details and thank you for your interest. Very rare Hopi Water Pitcher. Believed to be crafted by the great potter Nampeyo. Unsigned, made from native clay and paints. 8″ tall by 10″ at the widest point. Opening about 6″ x 4.5″. Excellent condition, has had no restoration to its form and no structural damage. There are minor “hairline” cracks which are most definitely attributable to the item’s age.
