Rare Early 1900’s Set of 6 Monmouth Pottery Old Sleepy Eye Cobalt Blue and White Mugs. No chips or cracks. Normal age crazing and light flaws in the making of the mugs. Great rich cobalt blue. The white has some age darkening. They measure 4 5/8 high. We make every effort to research the items we offer for sale and represent the items as they are to the best of our knowledge. This is one of three Native American wooden Indian Ladles or scoops that we are listing out of a prominent collectors estate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Providence provided at sale end. This one looks to have a pronounced bear head carved to the end of the handle. I could be wrong, and it may be another animal. It definitely has bear features. It measures 10 1/2 inches long by 6 inches wide. It is Antique from the 19th century. It looks to be in good condition. There is some shrinkage cracking to the bowl edge as pictured. I have pictures from all directions so nothing is hidden.

This birch bark bowl is very old and it shows in the patina of the surface. The rim around the edge still has almost all of the stitching but you can see clearly the embedded soil between the stitches that almost makes the piece resemble an artifact. The discoloration and crackling of the outside surface could only have happened if it had been used near a open fire. It is not decorative or embellished in any way but was meant to be used. The surface has a smooth silky feel as if it had been handled many years and maybe once held oily meats or fish. Of course, it has no odor now, but it was a bowl that was certainly used often by the owner. I wish I knew the Native American tribe that would have made the bowl, but I have no idea. I just know that it looks and feels very old. It in no way compares to more modern birch bark bowls. This one goes way back in years and would be a piece for advance collectors of Native American artifacts. 11.5″ x 3.75″.

There is a part on one of the girls skirts that has come out of the hem. There is a spot on the corner of the white side. Measures approximately 82″ by 71″. Please message me with any questions.
