Okay fellas here we have a rare highly unique, collectible lot of three complete, matching miniature prehistoric Native American grinding sets (3 Portable Metates and 3 Companion Manos). Unlike massive, stationary field boulders, these are highly sought-after portable or “pocket-sized” domestic tools. Each set is 6 inches or less in size, making them the perfect size for an artifact display case, desk, or shelf collection. Set-by-Set Details (All 6 inches or less). Set 1: Features a thick, blocky miniature rectangular base stone showing beautiful edge profile pecking and a distinct central grinding dip. It is paired with an elongated, smooth, oval-shaped hand stone that nests perfectly right into the basin. Set 2: A compact, flat rectangular slab paired with a blockier, loaf-style miniature hand stone showing beautifully flattened, smooth grinding faces. Set 3: A smooth, square-profile portable slab paired with a unique, upright cylindrical hand tool. This miniature mano is highly ergonomic and dual-purpose, functioning as both a small pestle-crusher and a vertical muller.

Original 1800s, shows wear, and break to top back, see photo 3. Found in barn attic here in NH 4. Hand made in NH or Maine, probably on the coast, by one of the Abenaki tribes 5. Definitely old, not a reproduction 6. This basket has been used 7. Top probably broke from the weight in the two pockets 8. Top pocket bows slightly, see photos 9. Basket is mostly good except for the top, a couple of small breaks in the back, see photo 10. With the exception of the top the basket is solid, very sturdy. Authentic Wabanaki / Passamaquoddy basketry from Maine, this beautifully handwoven wall pocket basket is a standout example of traditional Native American craftsmanship. This piece is signed “Neptune”, a known Passamaquoddy family name associated with skilled basket makers, adding both provenance and collector value. The basket features tightly woven ash splints and sweetgrass, with a functional wall pocket form designed for hanging and display. Signed Neptune – Passamaquoddy maker. Handwoven ash splint and sweetgrass construction. Wall pocket form – decorative and functional. The weaving is fine and consistent, showing excellent technique with natural color variation throughout. The form and construction reflect classic Passamaquoddy design, prized by collectors of Native American baskets and early American folk art. Condition: Good antique condition with light, expected age wear. Minor fraying and natural patina to the sweetgrass. Structurally sound and displays beautifully. Please review all photos for details.
