Simplicio was well known for incorporating natural red coral branches distinctively into his jewelry. Simplicio was employed at C. Wallace’s trading post and worked with some of the most talented Zuni artists including Teddie Weahkee, Leekya Deyuse, Leo Poblano & Lee Edakkie. During his career, Dan Simplicio has created some of the most beautiful jewelry pieces out there & some of his pieces are currently displayed In museums across the country. His pieces are still rare to find and are highly collectible. You are looking at an important rare old Zuni Dan Simplicio handmade sterling silver blossom design cuff bracelet set with beautiful turquoise and red coral stones. For those of you familiar with Simplicios work, I’ll let the pictures explain all. Notice the gorgeous colors on the turquoise & coral stones and also Simplicios signature hand stamped silver leaf design appliqués across the band with. I added plenty of pictures including measurements for you to see. The cuff comes with a free watch. Watch i believe is 17 jewel automatic & appears to be ticking but that’s all I know about it (see pics). The cuffs inside measurement excluding the gap is roughly 5 3/4″ and the opening gap is roughly an additional 1 1/4+”. This piece weighs a solid 115 grams. This rare find will make an excellent addition to any Native American collection. All fair offers considered. ONLY 1% OF THE TURQUOISE MINED IS TRUE “GEM GRADE”. THERE ARE NO DIVOTS IN THE TURQUOISE; IT IS THE INCREDIBLE COLORS OF THE MATRIX. Turquoise and Sterling Silver A++++ Cuff Bracelet; Extinct Mine; Wrist Sz 6.875; 148.1 grams 5.22 oztw; heavy Gauge Sterling Silver and Turquoise Piece from my private collection. Hallmarked “KEE” [attributed Ivan Kee]. 5 1/2 end to end plus open gap 1.375 = 6.875; rigid; advise that a jeweler make any adjustments to size. THREE LARGE HIGH TO GEM GRADE MORENCI “Slabs”; stones measure left c. 75″; center slab 2″ x 1 1/8″W; right slab 1.5″ x. 75 at widest points. The three terminal sterling silver cuff bracelet is rigid and can fit a 6.875 wrist actual measurements 5.5″ interior end to end with 1.375″ open gap= 6.875 Wrist Size and has a Center Setting Height of around 2. 3/8 and measures c. 3W across the front face. The Morenci turquoise mine produced a turquoise that is light to dark bright blue in hue. This stone has an unusual reddish brown matrix of irregular quartz and pyrite that, when polished, often resembles silver. Also, a small amount of Morenci turquoise had some brownish matrix called “Morenci red matrix” such as in this piece. One of the first American turquoises to come to the market was Morenci Turquoise. Morenci is highly valued and difficult to obtain because the Morenci mine in Southeast AZ is buried under tons of rock (permanently closed). This mine will never open again because the mine was leeched with chemicals that would have destroyed any remaining turquoise. This is one of the nicest Morenci Pieces I have ever owned. The stones are HUGE NATURAL SLAB CABOCHONS firmly set in strong heavy gauge straight edge sterling silver bezels; and so as not to take away from the stones, the artist showcased them by utilizing a simple twisted rope around each stone; and then flanked the sides with a thick link chain design and two incised leafs. Heavy Gauge Tri-Terminals were made to make this cuff virtually indestructible. Signed “Kee” on the Back. This fabulous cuff weighs a whopping 148.1grtw about 5.22oz. The piece is signed and one of a kind for your wearing pleasure. These are three hard glossy “gemstones”; taking eons to form just under the right conditions. SO GRAND IN PERSON.
