Navajo memory aids are quite rare. They began as sketches of successful sand paintings and were used by a medicine man when preparing a sand painting for a healing ceremony. This memory aid is painted on muslin. It appears to be quite old and is in very good condition. Dimensions are 36 inches tall by 31 7/8 inches wide. Currently it is attached with fishing line to a hand-made wood rod for hanging. That could easily be disassembled if so desired.
