This is a special book! I hate to use the word rare when describing a book – the term is overused. But in this case it applies. I challenge anyone to find another original copy of this book for sale anywhere in the world. Sure – you can probably find this same info online or maybe in a reprint. But there is something wonderful about having an original. Yes this volume has condition issues. But the covers, in leather, still present. The book is still perfectly readable and usable, although it needs to be handled with care. The pages are not fragile. This listing is for the book shown in the photos. This volume is now 152 years old – this is not a later reprint. This book is a fantastic reference for the historian, researcher or collector of Native American history. Read all the thousands of promises once made, and then later broken. There is a detailed Index at the rear – so you can easily find treaties made with each tribe – there are hundreds of tribes listed. Here you can read the detailed provisions of every treaty in effect at this date – 1873. A COMPILATION OF ALL THE TREATIES BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND THE INDIAN TRIBES NOW IN FORCE AS LAWS. PREPARED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE ACT OF CONGRESS, APPROVED MARCH 3, 1873, ENTITLED AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE PREPARATION AND PRESENTATION TO CONGRESS OF THE REVISION OF THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES, CONSOLIDATING THE LAWS RELATING TO THE POST-ROADS, AND A CODE RELATING TO MILITARY OFFENSES, AND THE REVISION OF TREATIES WITH THE INDIAN TRIBES NOW IN FORCE. By Government Printing Office Washington 1873. Size of book is 11″ x 8″. Overall condition is fair, but most all interior pages very good. Writing on first and last blank pages and maybe just a small number of notations on interior pages. Spine degrading and was taped at some point. Binding holding OK with splitting near the center. Mostly all text clean and clear. Sorry, no sales to Canada or anywhere other than 50 U. If you visit someone, and you see no books in their house – Run Away!

Set of 2 original paintings by the late Leland Bell. Very Rare to find his original paintings, most for sale are prints. Leland Bell was a Canadian Native American artist. His spirit name is Bebaminojmat, he is of the Loon Clan, and is a “second degree” member of the Three Fires Midewiwin society. Leland Bell’s wonderful paintings frequently use stylized human figures sharing the affinity of family or friends, often depicting imagery of nurturing, sharing, learning, peace and serenity. He was influenced in his youth through teachings, ceremonies, and art instruction at Cultural Arts Camps on Manitoulin Island, and it was there that his distinctive style first emerged. Leland has been painting professionally since 1976 and in addition to his painting devotes much of his creative energy to writing and music. He has collaborated often with Shirley Chee Choo and and her husband Blake Debassige on writing music for Shirley’s film projects. Bell has been part of Group Exhibitions in Ontario, British Columbia and Switzerland. He has had, literally, dozens of commissions, chiefly from organizations in Ontario.

Rare Antique Original c1880’s Native American “APACHE” Stag Horn Frontiersman’s Knife! Up for Consideration is a Rare Antique Original c1880’s Native American “APACHE” Made, Stag Horn Frontiersman’s Knife! Wonderful late 1800’s Native American Plains Indian “Apache” Tribe Stag Horn Handled Knife. This type of knife was also used by frontiersman and fur trappers of that time. The knife shows a forged large iron blade, with stitched in leather sinew strap support near the hilt and is secured tightly. The leather, blade and stag horn handle have extraordinarily rich patina that can only be found on well used authentic examples showing thick sweat and oil stains from use. This is truly a fantastic piece from the 1800’s having wonderful original authentic character. Provenance: From the private museum collection of early Native American weapons and artifacts in Paris, France. The knife measures in total 13 3/8″ long with a, 6 3/8″ long blade. Antique studio tintype of what appears to be a Native American Indian in traditional dress. Could be an unpublished image. Housed within original paper frame/sleeve mount measuring 2.5″ x 4″. Tintype is in poor condition with scattered soiling, creasing, and areas of paper loss throughout. Several large bend creases in tintype. Worthy of further research! Item: This listing is for a RARE original impression of the famous Walpi, Arizona, village where the Hopi tribe made their home around 900 AD. Jean Buchanan did a beautiful representation of the Hopi Spirit world beliefs, and her depiction of their truth in tradition clearly comes through her paint. Walpi means “place of the gap” in Hopi language, which refers to the specific notch in the mesa where the village of Walpi is located. This village is one of the few continuously inhabited areas of the United States. Vibrant color, clean and created in 1995. It is nicely secured in a wood frame with inlay cotton burlap trim. I believe it is in the encaustic method of painting. Mark: Jean Buchanan “Walpi Spirit”’95. Size: 22 wide x 30 high. Weight: 9 lbs packaged.
