Patty Fawn is a very well known artist and carver of the animals of the Pacific Northwest. She also works with sterling and I have had the honor of owning 2 of her rings which are unlike anything else I have ever seen. Her artwork pieces have been in several galleries and museums. She and her husband now live in Arizona but she hails from the Lalooska Tribe in the Pacific Northwest. Please Google her name for additional biographical information. I could go on and on about her! This piece is of an intricately carved Killer Whale with abalone shell inlay. I would probably go with some kind of string/thread and knot it Asian style. But that’s just my opinion.
