Navajo Sammie Kescoli Begay Rare Gem Grade Bisbee Turquoise Sterling Bracelet
From 1880 until 1975 Phelps Dodge mined copper near Bisbee Arizona. Turquoise was always a by product from the mine. Luckily the company allowed their miners to collect the turquoise and carry it out in their lunch buckets. Much of the turquoise gathered came from the “Lavender Pit”. This deep purple blue stone became justly famous as the most beautiful from Arizona, a color so rich and lustrous that it became world famous. The seven incredible natural gems in this bracelet illustrate the highest grade found at the mine. They are set in Navajo jeweler Sammie Begay’s hand made bezels, separated with large silver drops atop his famous rolled and hammered ingot shank. Created completely from scratch from old American ingot coin silver, the piece is deeply stamped to perfection at each end. Inner Circumference of Bracelet: 6-1/4 in. Bracelet Gap Size: 1-1/4 in.
