Rare Native American Silver Fetish Animal And Bird Necklace Heavy 116 Grams. Here we have a flash from the past–a silver bead necklace with silver fetish beads of animals such as turtles, birds, badgers, fox and fish all interspersed among the silver tubular heishi, plus small round silver beads capping each animal. That design of liquid silver mixed with animal fetishes–it smacks of the 1970s! The fetishes are mold cast, and heavy. Since there are no sterling stamps–casting generally does not allow for a stamp–I did acid test one of the fetishes in an obscure underside of the long tail (since acid testing can leave a small lighter dot) and it did test positive for sterling silver. They have no hallmark, so while we can’t say for certain that they are Native American, we believe they are Zuni. The necklace is long at 34 total length end to end, and each of the 21 animal fetishes ranges from 3/4″ long to 1-1/4″ long. They are absolutely adorable and, again, have weight to them. A whopping 4 + ounces total or 115 grams. The piece is threaded on wire and ends with a hook and eye. The silver has a beautiful, kind of dark patina, and if you prefer I will be happy to give it a light polish. This is a rare Neil Thomas hand carved 67 animal fetish necklace in very fine condition. 67 hand carved fetish animals – Sterling silver cones and clasp. Jet Owl centerpiece with bears, frogs, turtles, buffalo, foxes, songbirds, hummingbirds, wolves, ducks, prairie dogs, parrots and more. There are very few fetish necklaces of this quality style and condition available anywhere. Neil Thomas is one of the most celebrated stone and fetish carvers among the Navajo. His animals have great detail, character and feeling. The stones he uses are exceptional and the colors are bright and vibrant. His work is unmistakable. The stones and shells Neil Thomas, Navajo, uses are are bright and vibrant and you can feel the quality in his creations. He is one of the most renowned stone and fetish carvers in the Navajo Nation. His animals have personality and such great detail. He likes to use frogs, turtles, hummingbirds, parrots, ducks, birds, bears, buffalo, fox, wolf, fish and more. Stones are Turquoise, Pipestone, Jet, Spiny Oyster, Gaspeite, Serpentine, Mother of Pearl and many others. Heishi (hee-shee) beads are threaded at the ends of the stack. This necklace is authentically, painstakingly, hand carved, unlike many other necklaces online that are made with machine cut birds and animals. This traditional necklace is made into many delicate fetishes with Turquoise, Pipestone, Jet, Serpentine, among others. Each animal is delicately carved out of shell, turquoise, serpentine, jet and pipestone, and the colors in this necklace are perfectly balanced. There is a wonderful variety of life in this necklace including, bears, birds, frogs, fish, and wolves/foxes.
