Antique Vtg Navajo Mercury Dime Eagle Quarter Dollar Squash Blossom Necklace RARE. Given to me by my neighbor 35 years ago and it was very old then. A fabulous Antique Vintage Navajo SQUASH BLOSSOM Necklace with a sterling silver naja with an old green turquoise stone. Her grandparents owned a trading post somewhere in the Four Corners area, and this was given to her as a young teen. I believe it to date to the early 1940s. It is in excellent condition, restrung when she gave it me and worn on a handful of occasions. The coins range from 1923, 1936, and early 1940s. Pre and post WWII. It weighs approximately 10 ounces or 300 grams. The length is a fabulously wearable! Unlike most squashes, which sit in the awkward middle of ones chest, this could be almost an everyday piece. A little info: Anselm Wallace, Zuni, was born circa 1935. He was well-known for his flower design, often referred to as a Desert Rose. Anselm collaborated with his wife, Rosita Wallace, who is known for her butterflies. The Wallaces did not begin signing their work until 1979. They have been noted in many books on Zuni jewelry making and won many awards for their creations. Sadly, Anselm passed away in September 2011 and his wife passed away in February 2012, so all available pieces in the market by husband and wife are one-of-a-kinds and highly collectible. This listing is for a rare vintage Zuni ring made from sterling silver and natural turquoise inlays. This ring is beautifully handcrafted with the classic Zuni hummingbird design and is in amazing vintage condition. It dates back as early as the 50s!! The face of the ring features inlays of bright blue green turquoise with one inlay having several spots of pyrite shining. There are a total of 17 stone inlays that lay flush against a neighboring channel of silver creating the end result of this large round bed of turquoise and silver. The face has a good thickness to it as well with the silver edge being smooth to the touch. Four solid sterling prongs wrap around the thick sides of the face, evenly spaced apart. The prongs are strong, solid, and securely hold the face of the ring with no movement at all. The four prongs are actually two curved silver rods as you can see from the back of the ring. As they reach the center they are forged with two silver circles which are the base for the band. All of the silver work on the back of the face makes for a stable and sturdy ring. The single shank band is in perfect round shape with no give whatsoever. This ring is made with a high quality silver that does not bend, even with force…. This Zuni made piece will make a great addition to your existing Native American collection or it could be the the perfect piece to start one. Cherish and enjoy this ring for now….
