Rare Vintage Turquoise Sterling Silver Handcraft Squash Blossom Station Necklace

I bought this necklace from the original owner, and have yet to wear it. She estimated it to have been made in the 1980’s. Although, given the RARE completely handmade silver beads used throughout this necklacee, it could have been created anywhere between the 1970’s – 1990’s. It is a true vintage Native American necklace. The original owner was told it is a Royston turquoise piece, which means, this is likely RARE, old mined Royston, with a deeper color, and characteristic color mix. It is predominantly green turquoise with some blue, and a rich, warm brown matrix. As is common with vintage works, it has no signature, but has been acid tested throughout, and is solid sterling silver. It does have the number “85” etched on the back side of the center piece, which could indicate the year it was made/completed. This piece has 2 full strands of beautiful, RARE, ENTIRELY handcraft Navajo pearls, with middle solder seams, and the genre correct hook and eye clasp. It is strung on the characteristic silver foxtail – a special type of braided cord unique to Native American squash blossom and station necklaces. Total necklace length is 20 plus another half inch for the clasp. Center stone piece is 1.5″ tall by 1.25″ wide. Stones are graduated, and decrease in size as you move toward the ends of the necklace, the smallest ones measuring 1″x1″. There are 7 turquoise cabochons set in thicker guage silver. UPDATE: 9/13/20 – An expert in authentic Native American Indian jewelry notified me that this is EXTREMELY RARE and that possibly the only Bald Eagle Carlene made. Unfortunately, Carlene died so there is no way to verify this with her. ZUNI Native American Indian BALD EAGLE Squash Blossom Necklace. There are no “blossoms” but this is considered that type of necklace by some Native American Indian collectors. Handmade by Zuni Native American Indian artist CARLENE LEEKITY (Carlene died in 2014 – some obituaries say 2013 – but she is no longer living). Hallmarked: Carlene Leekity, Zuni Guaranteed AUTHENTIC vintage Carlene Leekity necklace. Carlene also hallmarked this 10-4-90 (which I presume is the date she completed this set – authentic Carlene pieces have what appears to be a date). 100% STERLING SILVER guaranteed. This stunning and unique carved turquoise necklace is a one of a kind! The carvings have been strongly attributed to the master Zuni carver, Leekya. Several experts in the field of vintage and antique Native American jewelry have also verified the attribution. The last 2 pictures are from the famous old C. It is a choker style necklace with seven carved turquoise tabs and handmade sterling silver beads. Please note, the turquoise carving just to the left of the center piece is not the original. That piece was broke and subsequently repaired, but the previous owner did not like the repair, so he had a replacement made. Rare DIXON SHEBOLA Zuni Necklace Sterling Silver Stone Inlaid Phoenix Birds

Attributed to Dixon Shebola, Native American Zuni inlaid Phoenix bird’s necklace that is made out of Sterling Silver with mixed stone inlay, with a hand made chain. On the backside of the large bird there are etched markings that are probably inventory or cost codes, he rarely signed his pieces. The Necklace is in good used condition: the stones are not cracked or missing, markings are natural Matrix’s, the metal has an old patina that has happened from age & wear, and the hook clasp works perfectly. The Necklaces center pendant is approximately 2 1/2 inches tall from top to bottom, by 2 inches wide from side to side, the chain with the birds in the middle is about 20 1/2 inches long from end to end, and the total weight of the Necklace. Is 49.4 grams. Please check the detailed description above for this items measurements & colors, I take my photos with a macro camera lens and it tends to make items look a little larger and lighting can distort actual colors.
