Museum worthy Discodial, game stone, mortar. I have not cleaned it. I used a horse hair brush and lightly dusted it and nothing more then that. There is something painted on the face up side. Moon cycles or star mapping. I honestly don’t know. Found in north Arkansas on white river private property. Property owners built a new home and resort on the side of bluff and hired me as a ground worker and care taker of 60+acres. I found it scooping up top soil in spring of 20014. This may be the best Discodial ever to be found. It’s definitely unique, eye catcher and center of attention always. Il try my best with pictures. Got any questions message me. This museum quality white, gray, and black speckled quartz popeye bust style Birdstone is a rare example of Woodland era manufacture, circa 500 BC – 600 AD. The provenance includes Pike County, Ohio and the Phillip Hall Collection. The abrasive work, polishing, and drillings have the correct prehistoric lapidary signature. The Birdstone measures 2-3/16″ base length x 1-3/8″ width x 1-7/8 height.

Total weight is 153 g. Length of total bolo is 4 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 inches across at the widest point. Kachina which is hand made and sterling silver measures two and three-quarter inches long by 1 inch at its widest point. This piece is stick at a little less than a quarter inch. Back is clean with natural patina marked J and sterling underneath. Takes up a whole hand to hold. Leather is perfect, bolo is perfect with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. Born in Richmond County, North Carolina in 1898, C. Wallace found his life’s calling at Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico at the age of 20. In 1918, Wallace arrived in Gallup, New Mexico and in 1919 he was hired by Louis Ilfeld at the Ilfeld Company to work at their trading post in Zuni, NM. After acquiring his trading license at Zuni Pueblo, Wallace set out to transform the lives of the Zuni people – 1,600 Zunis at the time – by encouraging them to produce high-quality silver jewelry with stone inlay for the tourist trade. Desiring a strong and fruitful relationship with the Zuni people, Wallace dedicated himself to becoming “totally acquainted” with the entire Zuni village (Wallace’s own words). “He spent’many nights each week’ after the store closed visiting the Indians in their homes and seeking to build their trust in him”. The 1920s and 1930s were years dedicated to a new way of thinking – despite tough financial times and a changing market ie. The Great Depression, the arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad & Route 66 Wallace saw opportunity for increased tourist trade and jewelry sales for Zuni Pueblo. Wallace promoted the use of traditional motifs as well, bringing over 600 examples of old pottery and other artifacts to Zuni artists as sources for inspiration. In a thirty-year span, between 1920 and 1950, Zuni jewelry-related tribal income increased from four to 65 percent. G Wallace jewelry is currently highly collectible upon many reputable dealers & collectors and you’ll also see his pieces displayed in several museums across the Nation.
