ESTATE FIND NATIVE AMERICAN SLATE PENDANT/ BUTTERFLY GORGET/BANNERSTONE. This piece is in amazing condition. Such a beautiful piece of artwork. I sure wish I knew what they used these for hundreds of years ago. Size is 6 3/4″ wide x 2 5/8 tall with the inside of the wings being 3 3/4″ apart and the holes are about 1 3/4 apart in the middle. The thickest part of the middle is about 7/8 thick. The previous owner “now deceased” collected points from fields and streams throughout South Central Indiana for over 70 years. Some points in his collection were acquired from the Indianapolis Childrens Museum, and the Eiteljorg Museum when they periodically deacessioned pieces from their collections.
