This beautifully crafted basketry doll is from the Quinault tribal region of the Pacific Northwest and is possibly the work of either Mattie Howeattle or Beatrice Black. Both were quite gifted basket weavers and were known to make these dolls. This doll was likely made in the 1st or 2nd quarter of the 1900’s and is in fantastic condition with no fading or damaged stitching. She is also quite tall measuring 10″ in height, 4-1/2″ wide from hand to hand and 3-1/2 front to back. She has long dark hair and a single feather headband. You can almost feel the history as you hold this doll! If you have had the pleasure of seeing one of these dolls before you first and foremost are a lucky individual. Possibly you saw one in a museum or, you are one of the extremely fortunate ones that have or have had the opportunity to own one as they are incredibly difficult to find for sale and nearly impossible to find in this condition.
