This exquisite vintage hand-made medicine man bag made by a Taos Pueblo artisan of supple White Tail deerhide exhibits exceptional Native American handiwork and craftsmanship. It’s hair-on-hide covering is soft and luxurious while the soft tanned interior skin resembles suede. It’s flap is secured by an oblong deer antler button with a small turquoise bead at its center. The stitching material does not appear to be commercially made but made by hand instead. The photos show the fine attention to detail of this work of art. Vintage handcrafted ceremonial staff, measuring an impressive 3.5 feet (42 inches) in length. This is a one-of-a-kind artisan piece, significantly larger than standard versions, making it a true statement piece for a collector or for use in a ceremonial setting. This staff is meticulously constructed using traditional-style methods and natural materials. Shaft: Natural, hand-selected wood with a rich, aged patina. Beadwork: Multiple strands of hand-strung glass seed beads in a classic red, black, and white pattern. Accents: Authentic soft fur collar and genuine rawhide/leather wraps. Finishing: Decorative fringe with natural feather accents. A Unique Native American Variation of a Medicine Turtle. Shell Medicine Pouch – Hand Made of All Natural Materials. A rare duplication of a natural turtle shell medicine pouch. But with a painted Sterling Silver Turtle shell instead of a real. Silver is fairly thick and pouch is hinged. Necklace consists of 4 strands of wood beads. Necklace measures 28 long total and Silver. Medicine pouch measures 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″. Necklace weighs 2.8 oz. Materials: Animal Bone, Wire, Multiple type beads, Small stones. Condition: In Excellent Pre-owned shape. Issue seen is some paint loss to the back of the. Sterling Silver Turtle’shell’ and a small dent on one. Of the end pieces of Silver, clasp area. Otherwise amazing vintage condition. The beads or fringe below the turtle shell are all strung. On slightly stiff wire and can thus be shaped if needed. Very well constructed piece! Dates to time period 1970’s to early 90’s. One family owned, estate find, a rare one of a kind piece. Artisan marked, see 3rd to last pic, (unknown artisan). Inside of turtle’shell’ is marked Sterling. (see 4th to last pic).

Larger mortars are known to have fully rendered owl faces carved onto their sides. Due to its small size and power animal likeness, this owl face pestle was likely used to grind important herbs and medicines, and not for food production. Features on this pestle are muted due to age and use. Condition: No damage, no chips, no cracks. Dimensions: 3″ x 2″ x 1 3/4.
