RARE Double Eagle Design HOPI Pottery Adelle Nampeyo Native American Sikyatki 5

SUPERB HOPI Sikyatki Revival Pottery Vase with Rare Double Eagle Pattern by Renowned Hopi-Tewa Pottery Artist Adelle L. ARTIST: Adelle Lalo Nampeyo b. 1959 is the great granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo. In the tradition of her elders, her work recreates the ancient Sikyakti style pottery using vibrant red, black, yellow and cream colors and geometric shapes often representing animal figures and natural elements. This stunning pottery jar features the double eagle design in a set of four wrapping around the piece. The Hopi double eagle pattern signifies the power and wisdom of the sacred bird, which is considered a messenger and transitional figure between the material and spiritual realm. The eagle plays a dominant role in Hopi ceremonies, evoking the balance between these two worlds and male and female energies, which might also be interpreted in the double eagle form as mirror images or mated pairings.
