Rare Style Antique Plains Native American Pipe Tomahawk
This is Rare Style Antique Plains Native American Pipe Tomahawk. This particular style is known as the bat-wing for the shape of one the piercings that resemble the shape of a bat. These tomahawks were more obscure and especially made for high ranking chiefs, war chiefs and particularly notable leaders. The war club tomahawk features an exceptional hand-forged iron head with bat-wing cut-out and beaded drop. The forge seams are visible on both sides of the blade and the piece shows a truly fine high-quality craftsmanship. The head exhibits a fine rich deep patina evenly over the entire surface. The original haft is constructed from carved hard wood and brass tacks. The entire surface of the wood shows a nice deep patina. Haft Length – 24.5 in. Blade – 10.0 x 3.5 in.
