Rare & Unusual Early 1900 Native American Salish Fully Imbricated Jar Basket
Very Rare & Unusual Early 1900 Native American Northwest Salish Fully Imbricated Jar Basket in Shape of Gourd. Here is a very very unusual gourd shape fully imbricated possible seed jar basket made by one of the tribes in lower Washington. I had couple of collectors look at it and they both thought this was made by one of the tribes along the Columbia river. There are no sap on outside or inside so water jar was ruled out so we thought this might have been made to put seeds in? He said he bought this basket because. It was interesting looking. I’m sure collectors of northwest baskets will find this one very interesting. The baskets are in good shape overall with wear and some loose imbrication. Please see photos as part of description. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will gladly answer any questions you might have. Thank you, 7.3″H x 5.4″W x 5.3D Weights approximately Under 1LB.
