RARE Native American FRANK DISHTA Turquoise Silver Squash Cuff Ring Earrings Set
FRANK DISHTA was the creator of the dot style inlay, which now is crafted by his sons and grandchildren. His jewelry making career began in 1924, and he quickly became a master of channel inlay technique, developing a style of his own. He was born on the Zuni Pueblo and exposed, early on, to great inlay artists. Frank did not sign his pieces, but his son Virgil and all other descendants who now use his designs hallmark their jewelry. The stones in this set are in exceptional, mint-vintage condition. The Sterling silver has a dark patina that has been kept as-is. The set includes a squash blossom naja bead necklace, a bracelet cuff style, a ring, and clip earrings. Necklace: The main naja pendant was beautifully inlaid with various colors of turquoise, and adorned with twisted wire and silver beads all around. It measures 2 1/2″ in height by 2 1/8″ in width. Six 1 1/4 tall by 3/4 wide blossoms embellish the hand-crafted bead necklace on each side of the naja. The 1/4 beads are uniform. Beads are strung in the original foxtail chain and the piece is just over 26 1/2 long from hook to eye. This necklace weighs approximately 117.5 grams. Bracelet: This cuff was inlaid and adorned in the same fashion as the necklace. It weighs about 39 grams, it’s 1 13/16″ wide, and measures 5 3/8″, with a 1 3/16 gap. The inlaid cluster sits on a 3-tine rolled silver shank. The bracelet has a lighter patina on the shank. Ring: This ring was crafted just like the other pieces. It appears to be a size 6, but one end of the shank has to be cold-soldered for a more precise measurement. This ring is 1 5/8 long, and almost a full-finger style. Blossom clip earrings: These pieces weigh about 5 grams each, and are roughly 1 3/16″ tall by almost 3/4″ wide. Clips are in good working condition. Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art. Additional notes: Gorgeous collectible set in superb condition. A must-have to any serious collector of Zuni jewelry. All measurements are approximations. Please measure your wrist, decolletage, finger, and waist, or use an old bracelet, necklace, bolo tie, belt, and so on, to determine your size. All items in our store are preowned, and in vintage-used condition. Minor wear and tear, and light surface scratches should be expected. Please allow for some variation in color. We attempt to capture the actual color of the stones/shells to the best of our ability, but cameras, lighting, and monitors may not portray the exact color. When the color in the photos is significantly different from the original, we will add that information to the listings. Items have a fixed price, however, we will consider all reasonable offers. Our items are packed securely and under surveillance cameras. Feedback will be left either after we receive a feedback, or upon request, and after the 14 or 30-day return time-frame. Vintage Old Pawn Zuni Turquoise Sterling Silver Rain Cloud Earrings. The cloud symbol carried very high importance. This was because it carries the element of water and it is one of the most vital amongst all the elements as it carries the sustenance of life. The basic things which the Rain Symbol signifies are renewal, fertility and change. I have had these earrings for over 20 years. They are not marked sterling, however they ice test sterling. They originally had a VERY short ear post and I had them removed and made them wires for comfort, that may be where the sterling stamp went. They measure 1 7/8 long and 1 1/2 wide. 18 grams total weight. The color is not a screaming turquoise blue but more on the pale green side, understated elegance. Funny thing about these earrings is that they are NOT IDENTICAL. One has a bit more braided wire on it than the other and to tell you the truth, I had forgotten that, until I cleaned them. Once they are on, no one would probably ever notice and Ill bet you didnt notice when you saw the first photo. It will be a secret between you and the RAIN CLOUDS. All the stones are secure. One slight chip out of one stone see photo # 4, 7th from the bottom on the left, and slight discoloration, matrix, on another, see photo # 3, third from the bottom on the right. Please see photos as they are part of the description. Use zoom feature for in-depth condition. Andy Cadman is a Navajo silversmith he has been creating fine Native American jewelry for over 20 years. He is the brother of Darrell Cadman, Gary and Daniel “Sunshine” Reeves, and David Reeves. Andy learned to silversmith from his brothers Daniel and David Reeves. Andy creates one of a kind and very intricately hand stamped pieces of Native American jewelry. Like his brothers work, most of his creations are fully covered in beautiful traditional Navajo deep stamp work. This process is both time consuming and labor intensive, making each piece a true one of a kind work of art. His creations are usually very bold, as he uses a thick gauge of sterling silver for his works, and beautiful natural turquoise stones. Handmade by Navajo silversmith Andy Cadman. This is a pair of sterling silver handmade Navajo post back dangle earrings. Each concho style earring has one natural gem grade Kingman Turquoise stone. The turquoise is a beautiful blue color with a black spiderweb matrix. Each gem sits in a smooth bezel. The posts are a big star stamped repousse bumpout. These concho style earrings are covered in deep Navajo stamp work. Andy finished these earrings with a dark oxidation. The silver work is beautiful and done in traditional Cadman style.
