Biography Born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1937, artist Frank Howell was a central figure in the Southwest Native Art Movement and was best known for creating meticulously painted portraits of Native Americans. Frank Howell’s paintings drew inspiration from his own Lakota Sioux heritage, and his art captured the relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds in the culture. He moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the late 1960s where he opened The Howell Gallery. A versatile artist, Frank Howell was also a proficient photographer, skillful lithographer, and worked using a number of other media such as drawings and sculpture. Following his death in 1997, Frank Howell art for sale is in high demand by avid collectors. This is not the limited edition version print. But is a hand signed and dated print dated 1994.

Frank Yellowhorse Sterling Silver & Multistone Inlay Bear. Leather cord with lobster claw clasp. These limited one of a kind pieces are extremely rare. Custom artwork Sterling Silver & Gem stones. This vintage Navajo necklace was hand crafted by well known silversmith Frank Yellowhorse (2/14/33-8/13/2020). The pendant measures approximately 2.5″ wide and 2″ high and is suspended from a large sterling bale. The detail of inlay in this piece is simply amazing. Yellowhorse utilized turquoise, malachite, jet, orange and purple spiny oyster. The pendant is stamped Frank Yellowhorse, Navajo, sterling and with an imprint of his signature horse. The pendant weight is 37.7 grams total.

Presented here, a pair of early, rare and elegant museum quality earrings, with delicate lotus-like flowers of natural Sleeping Beauty turquoise, dangling traditional turquoise najas. Earrings are embellished with applied silver raindrops. Frank Dishta did not sign his work. Held in private collections, his coveted and extremely collectible designs are well documented in museums and various publications featuring his original work. These earrings, for pierced ears, test sterling silver, and are in excellent vintage condition with no issues. Of 1930’s to 1940 vintage, created during the time Frank Dishta worked for famous trader C. Like a star sprinkled sky, a multitude of tiny turquoise gems form intricate clusters in imaginative configurations. Squash blossoms sit in high relief above double strands of lustrous sterling silver beads, creating added dimension. Master silversmith and lapidary and creator of this style, Frank Dishta’s complete jewelry set: inlaid squash blossom naja bead necklace, cuff bracelet, clip earrings, and ring in exceptional vintage condition. FRANK DISHTA was the creator of the dot style flush inlay, which now is crafted by his sons and grandchildren. His jewelry-making career began in 1924, and he quickly became a master of channel inlay technique, developing a style of his own. He was born in the Zuni Pueblo, and was exposed early on to great inlay artists. Frank did not sign his pieces, but his son Virgil and all other descendants who now use his designs hallmark their jewelry. The stones in this set are in mint-vintage condition. The Sterling silver has a dark patina that has been kept as-is. The set includes a squash blossom naja bead necklace, a cuff style bracelet, a ring, and clip earrings. Pictures don’t do these justice. Some are washed out. The main naja pendant was beautifully inlaid with various colors of turquoise, and adorned with twisted wire and silver beads all around. It measures 2 1/2″ in height by 2 1/8″ in width. Six 1 1/4 tall by 3/4 wide blossoms embellish the hand-crafted bead necklace on each side of the naja. The 1/4 beads are uniform. Beads are strung in the original foxtail chain and the piece is just over 26 1/2 long from hook to eye. This necklace weighs approximately 117.5 grams. Bracelet: This cuff was inlaid and adorned in the same fashion as the necklace. It weighs about 39 grams, it’s 1 13/16″ wide, and measures 5 3/8″, with a 1 3/16 gap. The inlaid cluster sits on a 3-tine rolled silver shank. The bracelet has a lighter patina on the shank. Ring: This ring was crafted just like the other pieces. It appears to be a size 6, but one end of the shank has to be cold-soldered for a more precise measurement. This ring is 1 5/8 long, and almost a full-finger style. Blossom clip earrings: These pieces weigh about 5 grams each, and are roughly 1 3/16″ tall by almost 3/4″ wide. Clips are in good working condition. Beautiful, LARGE and VERY RARE Franck Patania SR Navajo Sterling Turquoise Mask Ring. Marked with the THUNDERBIRD stamp and FP inside an oval. This mark was his earliest FP conjoined mark. He was one of the original shop owners. It was called the Thunderbird Shop. This is part of a fantastic collection of Navajo Jewelry. This was a collection put together over many years. I have not polished ANY of the pieces and will leave that up to the new owner because I know some people like the old patina. The collection is from a wealthy estate in Washington, DC. Rare turquoise beaded necklace with a sterling silver clasp by Frank Patania. The clasp measures 3/4 wide. The turquoise beads measure 9mm to 11.5mm. The necklace measures 20 long and weighs 58 grams. It cold use to be restrung but is in otherwise excellent condition. What does estate mean? Estate simply means previously owned. It does not mean antique or vintage. Everything I sell is previously owned, or estate. Minor wear is to be expected, any damage will be in the photos and description. FRANK DISHTA was the creator of the dot style inlay, which now is crafted by his sons and grandchildren. His jewelry making career began in 1924, and he quickly became a master of channel inlay technique, developing a style of his own. He was born on the Zuni Pueblo and exposed, early on, to great inlay artists. Frank did not sign his pieces, but his son Virgil and all other descendants who now use his designs hallmark their jewelry. The stones in this set are in exceptional, mint-vintage condition. The Sterling silver has a dark patina that has been kept as-is. The set includes a squash blossom naja bead necklace, a bracelet cuff style, a ring, and clip earrings. Necklace: The main naja pendant was beautifully inlaid with various colors of turquoise, and adorned with twisted wire and silver beads all around. It measures 2 1/2″ in height by 2 1/8″ in width. Six 1 1/4 tall by 3/4 wide blossoms embellish the hand-crafted bead necklace on each side of the naja. The 1/4 beads are uniform. Beads are strung in the original foxtail chain and the piece is just over 26 1/2 long from hook to eye. This necklace weighs approximately 117.5 grams. Bracelet: This cuff was inlaid and adorned in the same fashion as the necklace. It weighs about 39 grams, it’s 1 13/16″ wide, and measures 5 3/8″, with a 1 3/16 gap. The inlaid cluster sits on a 3-tine rolled silver shank. The bracelet has a lighter patina on the shank. Ring: This ring was crafted just like the other pieces. It appears to be a size 6, but one end of the shank has to be cold-soldered for a more precise measurement. This ring is 1 5/8 long, and almost a full-finger style. Blossom clip earrings: These pieces weigh about 5 grams each, and are roughly 1 3/16″ tall by almost 3/4″ wide. Clips are in good working condition.
