Kodiak Flutes Beautiful Custom Native American Style Flute Key of Bb (Base Flute) from our “Premium” Line. The main body is made of Exotic and RARE Brazilian Blackheart Wood. Turquoise Matrix Tru-Stone accent with Walnut End. The Low Key of Bb is prized for its meditative qualities produced by this base flute key. Brazilian Blackheart is a very expensive and rare hardwood. It is extremely hard and dense wood with a Janka Hardness of 3280lbf. The wood for this flute was hand selected from limited stock. The varied patterns on this wood are beautiful. NOTE: Brazilian Blackheart is sensitive to varying temperatures. The reason you don’t often see it available is because when it is initially dried, it is prone to cracking. This flute should be well cared for and left in a climate controlled environment. Note: This flute is about 25 1/2 inches long. It has a bore size of 1 inch. A base flute is difficult for someone with small hands to play. The finger spacing is also farther apart and lower on the body than our F# models. Take this into consideration if you are looking at purchasing this flute. There are is a multi-layered clear water-based acrylic on the body of this flute. Each of our “Premium Line” base flutes take about 2 weeks to complete due to the additional inlays and finishes applied. Every one is unique.
