Description: This rare, gorgeous certified Lander Blue turquoise & sterling silver concho belt features conchos that have a cluster of 7 small Lander Blue turquoise cabochons surrounded by hand stamped sterling silver all created by the known Navajo artist, Thomas Jim. Marked as sterling silver. Additional Info: This belt came from the Yoder collection. Barbara Yoder was a well-known and respected dealer of Native arts and jewelry. Her and her husband (the former Jerry Egeland) were original investors in the Lander Blue claim in the early 1970s. They took their payback in the form of turquoise, and as such, amassed one of the largest private collections of real Landers. Some of their Lander collection was featured in the book, Turquoise, The Gem of the Centuries, by Oscar T. Branson, published in 1975. The Yoder (Egeland) turquoise was featured on P. Their collection is well known as being authentic Lander Blue turquoise. As additional provenance, Bob Brucia, current owner of the Lander Blue claim, and recognized Lander Blue authority, has also independently inspected this belt and signed a certificate of authenticity. Maker: Thomas Jim, Navajo. Age: Late 1970s – early 1980s. Size: Conchos measure 2″ wide 1-1/2″. Belt is 36-1/2 long overall. Weight is 262.5 g. Condition: Good for its age, normal wear expected, vintage. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description. Huge 3D Old Pawn Navajo kachina roll bolo tie pendant signed. The mark appears to be either TW or TWD (see photo), I was unable to locate info on the mark. This is a beautiful collectors piece featuring 11 gorgeous turquoise stones, 3 large mother of pearl stones (including one on the top of the head and one long stone on each wing), 2 coral and 14 onyx stones. The nose appears to be made out of faux claw. It can be worn as either a bolo tie or necklace pendant, there are jump rings attached to the end of each wing. Pictures do not do it justice! Weight: 241.8 grams. Measurements: 7 1/4 tall, wings span is also 7 1/4 wide, 1.2 deep. Mark: TW on back (see photo). Condition: Excellent, all stones are in great condition and secured firmly in place, light surface wear on back, has a nice patina throughout. This item will be well packed, tracked and insured. ELSIE YAZZIE, the Matriarch of the the YAZZIE Family that was recently the subject of “GLITTERING WORLD”, an amazing exhibit in NYC at The National Museum of the American Indian, part of the Smithsonian. The family are members of the NAVAJO Tribe. It ran from 11/13/14 through 01/10/16. This Early handmade necklace and earrings are wonderful examples of the early workmanship that ELSIE handed down to her extraordinarily talented family. This outstanding necklace and earrings feature hand stamped barrel beads along with handmade fluted beads. The beads are strung on silver rope so that at the bottom center of the necklace there are 2 fluted beads together so that the wearer might add a pendant. The earrings are pierced. All are in exquisite condition. The necklace measures 24.5 long. It weighs 88 grams. The earrings 1 & 5/8 long. By 5/16 wide and weigh 8 grams. The necklace is marked EY and Sterling on the top barrel beads on either side of the necklace. These extraordinary necklace and earrings will be a valuable and historic addition to anyone’s collection. I will be adding more incredible pieces, s please take a look. This has a hallmark of JB, Early Jonathan Beyuka signed Bolo Tie – GORGEOUS! A STATEMENT BOLO TIE!! There are 3 snakes, one that moves on this piece. Measures 3 3/4″ long and over 2 1/4″ wide (all hoops intact). Weighs 44.0 grams. Tips are 2 1/8″ and have inlay on the dangles of the tips, and the cord is 38″. Hard to find beauty! Navajo Tufa Cast Belt Buckle. 2.7″ X 1.85 “. Will accept a belt of up to 1.4. 54.2 grams = 1.91 Troy ounces. (all measurements are approximate). Clarence Lee Tufa Cast Sterling Silver Belt Buckle. This Buckle was made by a talented Navajo artist using the Tufa Casting Technique to create a very beautiful Belt Buckle. It demonstrates a high level of skill in both design and jewelry construction! It is signed with the hallmark of “Clarence Lee” in script stamp as well as “(rocking)CL”. It is also stamped “Sterling”. As you may know, most of the jewelry created by Clarence Lee is contemporary and has applique. He has been making very popular jewelry since the 1970’s. Clarence loved to sell his jewelry directly to the public. On the occasions that I would see him and visit with him, he was always very outgoing and enthusiastic while he displayed and discussed his jewelry. You may not be surprised to learn that Clarence was a rodeo calf roper. I very much like sculpture and humor. Clarence had an appreciation for life and the award judges had an appreciation for his work. Dozens and dozens of awards have been awarded for this deserving artist. His work is even in the British Museum! This buckle may be best appreciated and cherished by Clarence Lee collectors that may have never see anything that he made that looks traditional. I have collect modern and contemporary art and always enjoy having items in my collection that reflect “early work” of something surprisingly different for a known artist. This buckle looks to be in fine condition. There are no dents, cracks, or noticeable scratches, etc. Take a close look with the magnifier on the picture program. The design of the Tufa Cast Silver work is what most collectors would call Classical Revival. This is a beautiful Belt Buckle that demonstrates the art of the Tufa Casting technique.
