VERY RARELY DO YOU FIND THESE BREAST PLATES FOR SALE AND IN GREAT CONDITION. BREAST PLATES WERE TYPICALLY WORN DURING WARS FOR PROTECTION. YEARS AFTER THEY WERE WORN AS PART OF THEIR CEREMONIAL ATTIRE. STILL TODAY THESE ARE WORN BY MEN FOR POW WOWS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND OTHER CEREMONIES/ THIS IS ALSO IDEAL FRAMED IN GLASS FOR A BEAUTIFUL DIPSLAY OF OUR HISTORY. TALK ABOUT A CONVERSATION PIECE. THIS PIECE WAS MADE BY SANTA FE ARTIST M. I BELIEVE THAT THE PIECES THAT MAKE UP THE PLATE ARE REAL BONE. THE BEADS ARE ALL BRASS WITH BLUE CRYSTAL LIKE BALLS IN BETWEEN. THE RED FRINGE IS SUEDE. AND THE CENTER TOP IS A CIRCULAR PIECE OF ABALONE SHELL. THIS MEASURES 15″ BY 13″ THE TOTAL FROM TOP OF BRASS BALLS TO BOTTOM FEATHERS IS 25. SO IT IS A FAIRLY LARGE PIECE.
