Rare Northern California Native American Karuk Yurok Hupa Lidded Pedestal Basket
Here is another amazing basket with incredibly tight twining, uniform in each tiny weave. It measures 3-3/4 inches tall and is 3 inches wide. It has a short, small pedestal woven into the pot, but, at only 1-38 inches in diameter, it is not wide enough for the cup to stand with the lid on, although it might when full. It has a lid with a woven in finial or double knob like handle on top. It reminds me of an Acorn. The only decoration is some thin black lines and dashes on the body and lid, and some tiny red dots on the body. The basket has a beautiful patina, evident when you see how much lighter it is where the rim of the lid covered the top edge. I believe this to be from the 1930s or 40s. Rare California Pit River Achumawi Indian Gambling Tray Native American Basket
Offered is a rare piece. This is a large 15 Northern California Pit River Achumawi Gambling Tray. The previous owners had a tag attached that dated it to 1890s and provided the reference to the American Indian Basketry of Northern California book by the Riverside Museum Press to a similar basket. A flexible basket, it is in excellent condition. No breaks or damage that I can find. A few pinhole gaps in weaving. A few rough areas, but this appears to be as made. I’ve provided some options. Sometimes UPS is the cheapest way to send larger pieces. A note: We’re all healthy here and are isolated and washing hands regularly. If you’re worried just leave your packages in a garage or porch area for a few days before opening. Thanks and be well. Most of the items we sell come from our personal collection gathered over the years from our travels, from Native powwows and craft stores, antique shops, auctions and estate sales. Now that our kids are in college and beyond, we are letting some items go so others can enjoy them. Then I’ll send you a combined invoice. Sorry for the expense, but I’ve had items lost overseas when mailing first class and don’t want to take the risk of losing items. I pack carefully and try to reuse materials to save on environmental impact. I often double-box items with smaller gift boxes collected from various thrift stores. I reuse all that I receive and hope you will make use of the ones that come in your packages. Rare Tiny California Pomo Indian Feather Basket Native American Miniature 3
Offered is our third Native American/First Nation Indian Basket Miniature this week. This is a fine and tiny California Pomo Indian Feather Basket. This lovely little basket measures approx. 1″ across by 1/2″ tall. Exquisite weaving by a master Pomo basketmaker, but I didn’t get the name of the weaver. You can see a few gaps, but this does not seem to be shedding feathers as often is the case in these baskets. We’re offering items on both Saturday and Sunday for the next week. A note: We’re all healthy here and are isolated and washing hands regularly. If you’re worried just leave your packages in a garage or porch area for a few days before opening. Thanks and be well. Apsit Bros. 1974 Native American Lamp RARE EARLY California Pottery Chalkware
Exceptionally rare and early piece of Apsit Brothers of California in fantastic condition. (Shade is not included with sale of lamp). I say rare, but what I likely mean is this is possibly the only one in existence. There is no major damage. No cracks, breaks, large chips. This statue has been sitting in a smoke free, dry basement for 40 years untouched. I couldn’t even find any paint loss outside of a fleck of black missing right below the brass bar protruding from his head to house the electrical cord. Dated 1974 on the back, this would have been among the first hand crafted and painted pieces they produced. Their signature is difficult to make out, but I guarantee it to be authentic. Signed Apsit of calif. C 1974 in very fair lettering. Lamp is in the form of a Native America Man, arms crossed, worried look on his face, U. It stands (without shade) 25 1/2 tall. The base is an oval that is roughy 7.5″ x 6.5″. It is heavy and solid. Weighs roughly 30 pounds. The detail here is absolutely amazing. Every hair on his head, the rocks on the base, pieces of his clothing, etc are meticulously detailed. I’m not kidding when I say this statue really is a work of art. Apsit pieces are highly collected and sought after, especially early pieces. This is among the earliest I have seen. Please note that the lamp shade pictured IS NOT INCLUDED with this listing. Feel free to ask questions. The item “Apsit Bros. 1974 Native American Lamp RARE EARLY California Pottery Chalkware” is in sale since Tuesday, August 11, 2015. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps\ Electric\Table Lamps”. The seller is “namstrops” and is located in Portland, Oregon. This item can be shipped to United States.
