Rare Early 1900’s Set of 6 Monmouth Pottery Old Sleepy Eye Cobalt Blue and White Mugs. No chips or cracks. Normal age crazing and light flaws in the making of the mugs. Great rich cobalt blue. SNOWFLAKE FLOWER (STEPHANIE RHOADES) is a well known traditional potter and storyteller maker from Cociti Pueblo, New Mexico. Snowflake Flower has been making storytellers and traditional pottery since 1977. She often puts Prayer Feathers on her storytellers in honor of her daughter who had been in a coma for 16 years until December 1999. Snowflake Flower has won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and the New Mexico State Fair. Her sister is noted storyteller potter, Ada Suina. Snowflake Flower is one of the few native potters who has a college degree. Courtesy of Penfield Gallery, NM. Most of my items are hand picked estate items in good to excellent condition. Avelia and Anderson Peynetsa, are married in life. Anderson and Avelia also collaborate on pottery making, too. When they work in partnership, they sign. Individually, Anderson and Avelia have each won many prizes-Santa Fe Indian Market Zuni Show, Museum of Northern Arizona, and Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Shows. 1964 was one of the star students who learned pottery making from Jennie Laate, the high school arts teacher at Zuni. He entered her class in 8th grade, progressing through the beginning, intermediate and advanced courses. Today, Anderson is among the best contemporary Zuni pottery painters. He is noted for his precise, flowing lines. He also is an excellent sculptor, applying relief figures as noted onto some of his pottery. He signs his individual works as. He is an active ca. 1980s to the present: traditional black-on-redware, polychrome seed pots, jars, ollas, bowls, canteens, duck effigy pots. Anderson Peynetsa is the son of Charles and Wilma Peynetsa; bother of Agnes Peynetsa and Priscilla Peynetsa; husband of Avelia Peynetsa; father of Ashley Peynetsa. 1964 is the great-granddaughter of the famous potter, Catalina Zunie. She also attended Jennie Laate’s ceramic classes at Zuni High School. Avelia Peynetsa, Zuni Pueblo, active ca. 1980s: black-on-redware; polychrome jars, bowls, seed pots, effigy pots, frogs, ducks. Avelia Peynetsa is the great-granddaughter of Catalina Zunie; wife of Anderson Peynetsa; mother of Ashley Peynetsa. Avelia learned pottery making from Jennie Laate. The pot is about 6 inches tall with an opening diameter of about 4 inches. At the wider areas they measure about 5.5 in. RARE work by both Avelia and Anderson Peynetsa.

Very rare Pottery Beaker found near the famous Cahokia Mounds in Illinois. This piece was collected by Roy Pohler, who had a massive collection with a primary focus on pottery. This pieces was found broken and had been glued together, and has been restored to hide the cracks, but if you know what your looking at you can angle it in the light and see where some of the cracks are. These are quite rare and only found in the Cahokia Area, and rarely come up for sale. Fully guaranteed authentic with restoration!
