Sea green, most likely Lucin, variscite stone. 6.3″ (16cm) fit for a 6″ wrist. Beautiful and similar to turquoise color but a unique sea green. See photo comparing our other Variscite Native American pendant to examine another specimen with a lighter seafoam color.. They’d make a great pairing! I rely upon the history of my family objects, family activity history, independent research and my fine artist background to determine provenance and value. Please let me know if you have any questions and i will do my best to answer them. My father’s family traveled to Asia and Europe in the 1930’s thru 50’s and brought back many treasures we have inherited. Jewelry and art from Italy. Metalware, jewelry and ceramics from Siam, Burma and China. They also collected California Art and prints worldwide. We have other jade items: two necklaces, a pendant, a sterling niello ring and possibly, if we can determine origin, a graduated hollow silver ball necklace. They also traveled a lot in the Western US and East Coast, Mexico and Central America.

Recently retired and clearing out some of my collections as I need to downsize. This listing is for a exceptional Sterling Silver and Variscite pendant by renowned Navajo silversmith Tom Lewis. I bought this on a trip to Santa Fe several years ago; it has been worn only a few times since then. The pendant is signed on the bale by the artist and stamped Sterling. It is in pristine pre-owned condition. This large gorgeous one-of-a-kind pendant will surely attract a lot of attention. I’ve never seen such a large and beautiful specimen of Variscite, very rare stone and this is a really nice example. Navajo Gem Grade Spiderweb Variscite. Sterling Silver Belt Buckle. 3.1″ X 2.4″. Will accept a belt of up to 1.5. 63.6 grams = 2.04 Troy ounces. All measurement are approximate. Navajo Gem Grade Variscite Buckle. This Large and exquisite Belt Buckle was made by a talented Navajo artist using a stunning Spiderweb Variscite stone that has lots of dark Matrix. It is Not stamp signed with a hallmark depicting the maker, nor it is stamped “Sterling” on reverse of the buckle. There is no tarnish and has its original high luster. The buckle looks, and probably is what most would consider “New”. I listed it as pre-owned, because it is… The stone is really the story here and this gem grade Variscite stone is magnificent. It seems to have all the characteristics and look of a stone mined in the Candelaria area in Nevada. You may notice that this stone, with its interesting “globules” and dark background, could be mistaken for Turquoise from the same area. In the United States, Variscite is also mined in Utah and Wyoming. It is generally more rare than Turquoise, but it is not incorporated in Native jewelry as commonly as Turquoise. The mining region is located about 50 miles west of Tonoph, Nevada. Turquoise was first mined by a Mexican in about 1885. This stone is luminous and radiant. This exceptional material is appreciated and used by many of the best Native American jewelers. I hope you like it! The simple and precise stamp work is also impressive and worth examining in the magnified pictures! Here is a real treat. I have never seen a buckle that has stamping on the square bezel that holds the Turquoise… This one has it! It is all quite fine. If you are looking for an elegant large Navajo belt buckle with a dramatic Variscite stone, I believe it will please you.. As the Navajo say, “Walk in Beauty”. In the United States.
