Very Rare Vintage Thomas Singer Early Hallmark Turquoise/coral Necklace
This is a marvelous vintage Navajo-gallery worthy-early Thomas Singer silver necklace. This is one of Thomas’s earlier pieces and is incredibly unique and distinctive. Resting on the pendant is a colossal Blue Diamond turquoise stone with accenting beautiful Mediterranean corals. Surrounding the pendant are impressive handmade silver waves. This necklace consists of a stunning handmade silver link chain with a traditional silver clasp. This necklace is signed with Thomas’s very old hallmark (TC). The turquoise stone measures a whopping 1-1/2″ x 7/8″. Signed by Navajo artist, Thomas Singer. Length of the necklace measures about 18. Tommy Singer (1940 – May 31, 2014) was a World Famous Navajo Silversmith. His distinct style of Indian Jewelry is recognized the world over. Tommy is considered by many as one of the greatest contemporary Indian jewelry silversmiths of our time. His Native American Indian jewelry work is coveted by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Tommy was a silversmith for over 50 years. He learned the art of silversmithing from his father when he was just 7 years old. His Father Tsinnigine Hathali was a Navajo Medicine man. Tommy incorporates many traditional sandpainting and rug designs of the Navajo People into his jewelry. Tommy began creating jewelry full-time at the age of 21. His early works were done in the Silver overlay technique. His work soon began to feature Turquoise stones. While working with scrap turquoise chips, Tommy pioneered the technique of Chip inlay used by thousands of artists to this day. For many years Tommy and his brothers created Jewelry using the Chip inlay style. His current work often included14 Karat Gold Overlaid on Silver. Tommy also carved storyteller scenes with tremendous skill. His carved silver Bead necklaces are also highly sought after. NON SMOKING PET FREE HOME. WE ONLY SE LL THE FINEST PRODUCTS…. Phenomenal vintage multi-stone mosaic inlay pattern sterling silver bolo pendant. Turquoise, coral, mother of pearl, jet, abalone, cowrie. This early mash-up of Zuni inlay design elements is interesting: There are the upward spread wings of knifewing, the multi-colored tufts of a thunderbird, and the stance of an eagle dancer. Weighs about 20 grams. About 2 3/8″ wingspan x 2 1/2″ tall. Tests positive for sterling silver. Inlay work shows wear, including a chip on jet on wing. See all photos & inspect carefully. Exact age and origin unknown. No offers accepted at the moment – thank you! Check out my other Native American, Navajo, Zuni, Hopi & Southwestern items.
