Very nice original early Native American stone axe. This one has a full groove and raised ridges. This style is what I see described as a Southern Barbed Axe on multiple reference sites online. This one comes from an old collection in South Carolina. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact location where it was found. I will have a few other Native American artifacts to list as well. Offering from my private collection recovered on my property in Antrim county Michigan. I have been a part time archaeologist for over 50 years. Authentic uni-faced single barbed war club made of fossilized conglomerate RARE!! This head is hafted in center and unifaced double pointed very old type. Recovered camp site # 3. Head size : 8 1/2” x 5 1/4′. Head weight : 4 lb 10 oz. Counter balance weight : 2 lb 4oz. Material : brown fossilized with dark brown inclusions medium to high polish from use. Artifacts may have mineral staining or deposits from ground exposure on them. See photos attached, any question please message me. Artifacts are from a very primitive culture of people call Assugun tribe. In the Algonquin language means Bone people.
