This listing is for a very rare pair of vintage Navajo earrings, handcrafted from heavy gauge Sterling Silver. NOTE: Please view all 19 photos. Last 5 photos show earrings on a full size model. These mid century Navajo earrings feature a rare design of 3 long silver rods with large silver pearls at the bottom. They dangle freely from half spheres holding their original posts and sterling silver butterfly backs. The silver used to create the earrings is a strong heavy gauge silver. The rods do NOT bend easily, which is probably why they’re in such good shape for their age. The dangling pearls are beautifully made and nearly seamless!! They’re truly a fantastic find and will go with everything!! There is no sterling stamp which is common of early Navajo pieces. The silver has been tested and we guarantee its purity of. These authentic Navajo earrings are a must have for any avid collector of Native American jewelry. Add this tangible asset to your collection and wear them with pride! Size – The earrings measure 3-1/2 long. Pearl Measurements – The largest pearl, hanging the lowest, measures about 3/4″ wide and the other two hanging pearls measure about 1/2″ wide. The half pearl that holds the post is also about 1/2 wide (see all photos for measurements). Weight – 18 Grams Total 9 grams each. Signed by Artist – NO. Stamped Sterling – NO, tested and verified. 925 sterling silver guaranteed. Mid Century, 1950’s+. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with a naturally aged patina, ready to wear or display. I treat every item as if it were my own. Up for sale is this marvelous pair of Navajo concho silver earrings having on each earring three handcarved corncob with handmade silver hooks for pierced ears! Earrings measure about 2? Top to bottom. The earrings weigh around 13.0grams no marks but tested as sterling silver great addition to your collection Corn Symbolism. Naada?? a??’ (corn) is a primary staple of Diné (Navajo) life and a symbol of sustenance in Dinétah (the Diné homeland). It is one of four sacred plants given to the Diné and it provides both food and medicine. Eating corn can bring clear thoughts and new knowledge. Diné families prepare many dishes with it, including dried steamed corn, roasted corn, kneel-down bread, and blue-corn mush. In addition to sustaining the Diné physically, corn plays a central role in Diné spirituality. Sacred stories tell how the Diyin Dine’é (Holy People) created the first humans from corn. Ta? Dídi? I? N (yellow corn pollen), found on the tassels of each corn stalk, is collected and used widely in ceremonies, as a blessing, and is offered during prayer. Preparing a large roasted corn cake is an important part of Kinaaldá, the coming-of-age ceremony for girls. Corn, corn pollen, and the creation of humans and all things are at the core of the Hózho? O? Jí (Blessing Way).

EXTREMELY RARE ABSOLUTE PRISTINE set! As of MARCH 2, 2024 – I could not locate another one of these Edward A. It is my understanding that, sadly, Edward died from the COVID INFLUENZA in 2021. These EDWARD A LEEKITY sets are very rare. Nearly impossible to find them and when you do they are missing their earrings. This SET still has it’s original earrings from Edward and tragically he will NOT be making anymore. ZUNI Native American Indian HORSE Squash Blossom Necklace and earrings set. Although this does not have the typical “squash blossoms” it is considered that style/type of necklace by some collectors. Meticulously Handmade by Zuni Indian artist EDWARD A LEEKITY (deceased: 2021) please see photos for artist’s personal hallmark E. 94 (this is believed to be crafted in 1994 since Edward generally hallmarked his pieces with the year he created them). BEAUTIFUL, PAINSTAKINGLY ALL HANDMADE. Absolutely gorgeous in person. Please very carefully study all the inlay and hand-carving. Absolutely never worn, never used. It has been kept in a vault in a plastic bag from a private high-end Native American Indian artifacts collection for years. There is some tarnish to the sterling silver which is to be expected from oxidation thru the years. Note: there is some tarnish from oxidation thru the years. Genuine NATURAL turquoise stones, creamy white mother-of-pearl seashell stones, black onyx, what appears to be leopard skin jasper (for the “pinto” horses) and abalone seashell stones. No damaged stones, no cracked stones, no missing stones. LARGE FULL SIZE NECKLACE : 26 1/2 clasp to clasp. 129 grams of weight on the necklace. According to MY jeweler’s scale. Different scales may be calibrated slightly different. MAIN LOWER HORSE: Appox. 2″ x 1 1/2″. UPPER SIDE HORSES: Approx. 1 1/2″ x 1 1/4″. Matching earrings for pierced ears. 1 3/8″ x 1 1/8″. Sizes are accurate but due to different measuring devices possibly being “slightly different” I put “approximately” as a gauge for your reference. This truly is one of those EXTREMELY RARE pieces that belong in a Native American Indian Zuni tribe/nation museum. Item inventory #: MB – LEEKITY.
