VERY RARE Native American Acoma Vintage Antique Pottery Bird Effigy Canteen
This is a very rare and unique Antique, early1900’s possibly 1. Quarter Native American Acoma Pueblo Indian pottery bird effigy canteen. This shape canteen is almost never seen. It has suffered the loss of its tail, a chip of its beak and a couple of other minor chips but it is so rare that it is still a very collectable Acoma canteen. At some point, someone filed the portion where the tail broke off making it far less noticeable. It measures approximately 5-1/4″ long by 5-1/2″ wide by 2-3/4 tall. Please review all of the photos as they are a large part of the description and a testament to the condition.

Up for your consideration is a large handmade pot by the artist Michael Kanteena. Signed on the base. Michael Kanteena work began to develop around 1990. Wishing to learn about his ancient roots, which he knew went back ot New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon (Anasazi Culture), he began collecting archaeological catalogues of pottery forms. Through extensive study, trial and error, and even consultation with archaeologists, he developed his pottery into remarkably close recreations of the Chacaon and Mesa Verde pottery. In some cases, Michael’s pottery actually is a fairly accurate reproduction of older pieces, e. Hopi kachinas, but in many instances his work is just “inspired” by ancient pottery. His pot will not actually reproduce an older piece, but it will certainly have the “flavor” of Anasazi or Mimbres pottery. His pottery is fired two times. First, he kiln fires for strength and then he will re-fire outdoors to give his pots their “ancient” look. Michael uses all natural pigments for his paints and brushes made from yucca plant. 10.5″ Wide (Including handles) at Handles 9″ wide less handles. 9 Wide (Less handles). No chips or cracks. This pot was originally bought from the Phoenix Gallery in Topeka, KS which closed it storefront in 2011 and moved to Lawrence, KS. There is a buisness card inside the pot from this gallery. It’s impossible for me to get an exact date on it but I would presume it to fall somewhere in the mid to late 90s to the mid to late 00s. The black marks on the outside of the pot are supposed to be there as it is part of Kanteena’s style and comes from the second firing process mentioned above. Very rare to see a piece of his work at this size. A really great looking piece! Please feel free to write and ask questions.

Vintage Native American RARE Handmade Pottery Skookum Doll Like Woman With Baby
Vintage Native American VERY RARE Handmade Pottery Woman With Baby On Marble and wood Stand. I haven’t been able to find anything like it. There is texture in the hand painting, and a little wear and tear as shown in the pictures. But seems to truly be a one of a kind piece that I got from a lady who grew up on the Catawba reservation in South Carolina, along with a few of my other Native American pieces in my store. It is a pretty heavy piece for its size. The Catawba, also known as Issa, Essa or Iswä but most commonly Iswa (Catawba: Ye Iswa?’people of the river’), [3] are a federally recognized tribe of Native Americans, known as the Catawba Indian Nation. [4] Their current lands are in South Carolina, on the Catawba River, near the city of Rock Hill. Their territory once extended into North Carolina, as well, and they still have legal claim to some parcels of land in that state. They were once considered one of the most powerful Southeastern tribes in the Carolina Piedmont, as well as one of the most powerful tribes in the South as a whole, with other, smaller tribes merging into the Catawba as their post-contact numbers dwindled due to the effects of colonization on the region.

RARE NATIVE AMERICAN POSTER PAINT POTTERY TURKEY w AMAZING COLORS SIGND DOLORES
This is an Estate Fresh old RARE NATIVE AMERICAN POTTERY TURKEY FIGURE or SEED POT in GREAT COLORS. It is SIGNED DOLORES with the last name worn too far to discern though it could be Toya or Garcia or possibly Fragua. That is followed by a word that looks like it could be Jemez but its too worn to be definitive – its OLD and WORN in my opinion so you decide what it reads. They had some very colorful stuff back in the day and the Jemez Pueblo is known for using Poster Paint on its older pottery for decoration. This came from an old long time collection and she had amazing pottery and other stuff. The Bird is 4″ tall x 3.25″ wide and 3.75 deep. Any questions PLEASE ask! My descriptions are solely there to assist buyers finding the items and are not a guaranteed accurate description of the item in all cases. If you do need information I have neglected to include, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
