A fine Native American Tomahawk or war club made of stone, wood covered with leather, feathers and beads. The attached tag says’Shoshone warrior, Windriver Res, Hootchoo Collection. In my opinion it appears to be an object made in the tradition of classic Native American war clubs (mainly used before tomahawks with steel blades) – the leather doesn’t show significant signs of wear. Length is 44.5 cm.

This piece has been in the family for quite a while. I have been told it is rare CA 1920 replica of a Native American Indian 16 painted stone head tomahawk. Hide wrap to 4 painted head. Excellent patina to complete tomahawk. A very desirable stone head tomahawk. This Native American style stone tomahawk measures 16 long, has a wooden handle, which is wrapped in a leather thong which holds the stone in place. Not decorated with all the bells and whistles as later productions, it is believed to be a ceremonial hatchet from the early 20th century, circa 1910. The stone has been decorated with blue, red and yellow painted design, as has the handle. It appears that the handle is also leather wrapped. The hatchet stone is approximately 3 ½” high x ” wide and about 1 thick. This piece would be an awesome addition. This piece is in excellent condition considering its age. There are no tags or packaging.

Nice old Lakota Sioux pipe tomahawk with original haft and head. The head is forged and very old. Very well taken care of! The surface of the head still retains much of its original luster. The bowl has an octagonal opening and rifling inside, originating from an old gun barrel. This is a classical example of mid 1700’s blacksmith technique. The bowl is applied to the eye. The old ash haft is decorated with very old brass tacks and prolific file brandings. The haft has been carved into a hexagon shape, faceted. The haft is a work of art, museum quality. Excellent condition over all. The head measuring 7.25 inches long, the haft measuring 17 inches long. Send me your offers. From a relative’s advanced collection. BRASS TRADE PIPE TOMAHAWK, brass head with pipe poll, handle inlaid with pewter, the decoration featuring a Thunderbird, a standing figure, a sun circle, double arrows, double cross, crossed arrows, and geometric designs. It is a rare gem. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own a beautiful and exceptionally unique piece of American history. 8″ L head, 15 1/4″. Fourth quarter 19th century. Excellent condition overall, pewter inlay with some likely early solder repairs, losses to mouthpiece likely from use. Private collection of Wallace Gusler, Williamsburg, VA. Gusler, This appears to be a commercial example of the type marketed to the Native population. The pewter inlay work was possibly executed by a Native American. The designs in the handle area of the tomahawk show Southwest Indian style – a thunderbird and a standing man, both executed with straight lines and corners, a style derived from weaving. There is also a sun circle at the end of the grip area, moving toward the head on each side. Double arrows, a double cross, and crossed arrows, and other geometric details are between the grip area and the head. In some areas solder repairs have been made, very easy to spot because of their lighter silver color. These appear to have been done during the period of active use. The integral mouthpiece has been broken off and shows good age, showing damage sustained a long time ago. I always provide tracking information for buyers to track their investments.
