Rare Cahuilla Mission Offering Basket Tray, Native American Indian, Circa 1880s
This extremely rare Cahuilla Mission offering basket tray is tightly woven with juncas grass coiled over a grass bundle. Attributed to Ramona Lubo, a Cahuilla basket weaver who died in 1922. Rare & Unusual Early 1900 Native American Salish Fully Imbricated Jar Basket
Very Rare & Unusual Early 1900 Native American Northwest Salish Fully Imbricated Jar Basket in Shape of Gourd. Here is a very very unusual gourd shape fully imbricated possible seed jar basket made by one of the tribes in lower Washington. I had couple of collectors look at it and they both thought this was made by one of the tribes along the Columbia river. There are no sap on outside or inside so water jar was ruled out so we thought this might have been made to put seeds in? He said he bought this basket because. It was interesting looking. I’m sure collectors of northwest baskets will find this one very interesting. The baskets are in good shape overall with wear and some loose imbrication. Please see photos as part of description. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will gladly answer any questions you might have. Thank you, 7.3″H x 5.4″W x 5.3D Weights approximately Under 1LB. Rare California Pit River Achumawi Indian Gambling Tray Native American Basket
Offered is a rare piece. This is a large 15 Northern California Pit River Achumawi Gambling Tray. The previous owners had a tag attached that dated it to 1890s and provided the reference to the American Indian Basketry of Northern California book by the Riverside Museum Press to a similar basket. A flexible basket, it is in excellent condition. No breaks or damage that I can find. A few pinhole gaps in weaving. A few rough areas, but this appears to be as made. I’ve provided some options. Sometimes UPS is the cheapest way to send larger pieces. A note: We’re all healthy here and are isolated and washing hands regularly. If you’re worried just leave your packages in a garage or porch area for a few days before opening. Thanks and be well. Most of the items we sell come from our personal collection gathered over the years from our travels, from Native powwows and craft stores, antique shops, auctions and estate sales. Now that our kids are in college and beyond, we are letting some items go so others can enjoy them. Then I’ll send you a combined invoice. Sorry for the expense, but I’ve had items lost overseas when mailing first class and don’t want to take the risk of losing items. I pack carefully and try to reuse materials to save on environmental impact. I often double-box items with smaller gift boxes collected from various thrift stores. I reuse all that I receive and hope you will make use of the ones that come in your packages. Rare Tiny California Pomo Indian Feather Basket Native American Miniature 3
Offered is our third Native American/First Nation Indian Basket Miniature this week. This is a fine and tiny California Pomo Indian Feather Basket. This lovely little basket measures approx. 1″ across by 1/2″ tall. Exquisite weaving by a master Pomo basketmaker, but I didn’t get the name of the weaver. You can see a few gaps, but this does not seem to be shedding feathers as often is the case in these baskets. We’re offering items on both Saturday and Sunday for the next week. A note: We’re all healthy here and are isolated and washing hands regularly. If you’re worried just leave your packages in a garage or porch area for a few days before opening. Thanks and be well.
