We believe it depicts an Eagle Dance scene that is likely gold filled or gold bonded (we’re not certain). The buckle is slightly domed and has hand stamped patterns around the trim. Victor is regarded as among the greatest Hopi silversmiths. He is responsible for the texturized background in Hopi silversmithing. His teachers were Paul Saufkie and Fred Kabotie. This silver belt buckle (circa 1970) features a sleek modernist design. It is in excellent condition. Dimensions are 2 inches by 1.25 inches. It weighs 27.1 grams. The buckle will accept a 1 1/8 inch belt strap. It is hallmarked with Victor Coochwytewa’s Rain Cloud along with the Hopi Silvercraft Guild Sunface.
Sash is white green and orange with whirling log and other geometric patterns. Very tightly hand woven about 28 x 15 stitches per inch. Approximately 56″ long x 1 1/16″. I cannot find any similar examples in my searches. I’m guessing it’s Dine(Navajo) because it has whirling logs. I know the whirling log was prevalent in Dine weavings during the first quarter of 20th century so I would date the sash to this timeframe. Though it may be earlier. If you have any information about this type of sash please reach out. Found at a local Albuquerque estate.

The belt is expertly done, very hard to find this quality and especially from this artist. This weighs in at 132 grams. 12 stunning concho with extremely high quality Blue Gem Turquoise having great color, signed FC with lovely hand stamping with great detail.
