This listing features a rare vintage sterling silver and lapis ring, made by renowned Navajo Artist, Tommy Jackson. This Beautifully designed ring features a long blue lapis stone set in a tall sawtooth bezel. The stone is in mint condition and has an amazing dark blue hue with several specks of lapis spotted throughout. The stone is quite beautiful up close with tons of character and sits rather high on the finger. It sticks up and out of the bezel just a tad, showing off Jacksons cutting and polishing skills. The bezel is in perfect condition with no dings or dents, and where its forged together on one side its completely invisible. A real beauty, this ring was very well made and taken care of over the years. The sand cast band is worthy of bragging rights as well. At the back center it starts off as a single shank and as it nears the sides of the band it splits into a double shank with curling silver works. At the back of the ring face where it is forged to the bottom of the bezel, it extends all the way past the north and south ends of the stone with more curling silver works protruding from under the stone. A super rare design by Jackson in perfect condition! The sand cast band is thick, sturdy, and in perfect round shape. This ring is waiting to be cherished and enjoyed for now…. And handed down to loved ones later. A lovely addition to any Native American jewelry collection…. Or the perfect piece to start one! Size – 6.5. Weight – 7 Grams. Face of ring measures – 1-3/16 long by 3/8 wide. Stone measures – 1-1/8 long by just over 1/4 wide. Band measures – just under 1/8 wide at bottom center, and 5/16 wide where the double shank meets the sides of the ring. Signed by Artist – YES, Navajo Master Silversmith, Tommy Jackson. Stamped Sterling – YES, tested and verified. Later Mid-Century, Early 1970s- Early 1980s. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with original lapis stone, and aged patina, ready for daily wear. I treat every item as if it were my own. Beautiful Sterling silver watch cuff with watch expertly crafted by Navajo silversmith Tommy Singer. The cuff has an intricate Navajo design pattern. One of a limited quantity of 10 made by Tommy Singer. The watch is labeled “Japan Movt Stainless Steel Back”. It has a turquoise face with a gemstone at 12 o’clock position. Battery was recently replaced and it works. This beautiful piece looks great and would enhance any collection – see photos. Tommy Singer (born 1940 – May 31, 2014) was a Navajo Silversmith who specialized in chip-inlay jewelry. His inlaid turquoise, coral, and silver pieces incorporated traditional Navajo designs. Singer gained acclaim as the originator of the chip inlay design which he developed in the 1970s. Singer was a member of the Navajo Nation from Winslow, Arizona. He perfected his craft working on the Navajo reservation in a small studio surrounded with his family and other tribal members. He grew up on the Navajo Reservation and was taught silversmithing by his father, beginning at the age of seven. In the 1960s he invented the “chip-inlay” technique of using turquoise or coral chips in this silverwork. This technique has become widespread in his community. He also used stamps and work in overlay. When asked about his work, Singer said, Every piece is made with the various meanings from my traditional ways – the Navajo way of living. My father was a silversmith, too. He taught me, and wanted me to continue this trade. It was my father’s dream that I learn to silversmith so that I could continue his beliefs.
