HARRY H BEGAY Bracelet #8 Turquoise Ingot Silver HHB Cuff Old Pawn Sterling RARE. By Navajo (MASTER) Silversmith, HARRY H BEGAY. Harry Begay’s pieces are hand wrought in the traditional style called “Ingot work”. Harry Begay melts his silver in a crucible and pours it into molds which he then works into desired shapes. Such work requires multiple annealings, which is the process of reheating silver to 1200 degrees to realign the crystalline structure of the silver molecules. Up for sale is a sterling silver and turquoise RARE pendant by artisan Kenneth R. There is no marking indicating sterling, but it appears to have the same characteristics and patina as our other sterling pieces, and older sterling pieces were not always marked. The pendant is in a teardrop shape, with an 8-petaled sterling silver flower in the middle. The flower is surrounded by 4 turquoise cabochons in sawtooth bezels. The cabochons feel secure and tight. Measurements are approximately 1-1/4″ wide at the widest point and 2-1/8″ high, including bale. Hand polishing will happily be done upon request. Thank you for shopping goatewe! From 1880 until 1975 Phelps Dodge mined copper near Bisbee Arizona. Turquoise was always a by product from the mine. Luckily the company allowed their miners to collect the turquoise and carry it out in their lunch buckets. Much of the turquoise gathered came from the “Lavender Pit”. This deep purple blue stone became justly famous as the most beautiful from Arizona, a color so rich and lustrous that it became world famous. The seven incredible natural gems in this bracelet illustrate the highest grade found at the mine. They are set in Navajo jeweler Sammie Begay’s hand made bezels, separated with large silver drops atop his famous rolled and hammered ingot shank. Created completely from scratch from old American ingot coin silver, the piece is deeply stamped to perfection at each end. Inner Circumference of Bracelet: 6-1/4 in. Bracelet Gap Size: 1-1/4 in.
