VTG NATIVE AMERICAN RARE FIND HOPI MORRIS ROBINSON STERLING TURQUOISE STAMPED CUFF. Morris Robinson was one of the great forerunners of Charles Loloma. According to the 1923 U. Indian Census, Morris was already living and working in Phoenix, AZ. In 1924, he was living with Hopi jewelry Grant Jenkins. They made jewelry for Graves and Vaughn’s Indian Store in Phoenix. During the next four decades, Morris became a master goldsmith and silversmith. His creative and innovative designs distinguished him among his peers. He influenced the next generation of contemporary Hopi jewelers, including Preston Monogye and Charles Loloma. Morris was of the Lizard/Snake Clanfrom the villages of Oraibi and Bacabi on the Hopi Third Mesa. His hallmark is H and a snake. He has been extensively collected and published. We try to stay away from attempting to identifying particular turquoise mines unless we have source confirmation. Suffice it to say that this cuff has a natural stone of. As they are part of the description. Weight: 35.18 grams. Cuff quad shank width: top is 1 & 1/8″ tapering down to 1/2″ at bottom terminals. Cuff band inside: 5 & 1/2. Circa: Unknown, between 1924 to 1970’s. Artist: Morris Robinson / Hallmark H with snake picto. Shape & measurements: slightly irregular oval averaging 25.18mm x 17.49mm. Setting: Bezel with rope chasing, foliate work and intricate stamped designs. Color: bright turquoise blue, slight green cast with brown webbed matrix. ESTATE FIND NATIVE AMERICAN SLATE PENDANT/ BUTTERFLY GORGET/BANNERSTONE. This piece is in amazing condition. Such a beautiful piece of artwork. I sure wish I knew what they used these for hundreds of years ago. Size is 6 3/4″ wide x 2 5/8 tall with the inside of the wings being 3 3/4″ apart and the holes are about 1 3/4 apart in the middle. The thickest part of the middle is about 7/8 thick. The previous owner “now deceased” collected points from fields and streams throughout South Central Indiana for over 70 years. Some points in his collection were acquired from the Indianapolis Childrens Museum, and the Eiteljorg Museum when they periodically deacessioned pieces from their collections.
