Rare Native American Beaded Pipe Bag from the Black Hills, AKThis decorated pipe bag is made of tanned deerskin with leather lazy stitching adorned with horse hairs, feather, beads and brass tacks and bells. It is truly unique and very rare. This pipe bag holds cultural and historical significance. It reflects the artistry and traditions of Native Americans. The backing is made with a black spun material that is typical for that era. (felt like)The hanging handle is hand braided with buckskin as is the stitching. It measures 23″L with an additional 10″ of fringe. It is 4″ wide and the hanging handle is approximately 5″.

Deep Blue almost Ocean blue with spots of light blue and dark brown web. In bright light I can see lighter blue colors here and there but in natural light it looks deep blue. There’s an arrow maker’s mark in the back, Sterling silver, huge Turquoises, I cannot take stone out of brooch to weigh it, it is a little more than an inch long and half an inch wide. It looks like Antique, define Native American my guess is Navajo. Did test real turquoise. Antique, should probably be in a museum.

Title is sellers best guess so please allow photos to provide details. I believe this is a Native American Hopi basket with leather buckskin surrounding the rim. The basket is in wonderful condition and measures approximately 10×5. The leather has some areas of wear and there are a few missing rivets but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of piece. I believe originally there was another piece of leather that covered the bottom and this is why the bottom has less patina present. Unfortunately I’m not sure when this was created but appears to be an older piece. Please see photos for details and thank you for your interest.
