This is a vintage sterling silver Concho belt measuring 37 1/4 inches long with 1 3/4 inch by 1 5/8 inch (45 MM x 40.3 MM) Concha links and a 2 inch by 2 1/2 inch 63.2 MM x 54.2MM buckle. The belt is comprised of fourteen (14) Conchas, each with a unique, different detailed design with millgrain edges for a beautiful finished look. The unisex belt can be adjusted smaller, with the simple hook and eye closure. This versatile piece can also be worn around the neck. The word Concho comes from the Spanish Concha for conch or seashell, and these pieces are used to decorate saddles, bridles, clothing, jewelry and belts. Although this does not have the typical “squash blossoms” it is considered that style/type of necklace by some collectors. Meticulously Handmade by Zuni Indian artist EDWARD A LEEKITY (deceased: 2021) please see photos for artist’s personal hallmark E. 94 (this is believed to be crafted in 1994 since Edward hallmarked his pieces with the year he created them). BEAUTIFUL, PAINSTAKINGLY ALL HANDMADE. Absolutely gorgeous in person. Please very carefully study all the inlay and hand-carving. I have seen many other Edward A. Leekity hummingbird necklace and earrings sets, thru the years, and this is by FAR the most intricate, ornate and BIGGEST I’ve ever seen. Truly an extremely very rare treasure and absolutely PRISTINE. Genuine NATURAL turquoise stones, creamy white mother-of-pearl seashell stones, black onyx and abalone seashell stones. No damaged stones, no cracked stones, no missing stones. LARGE FULL SIZE NECKLACE : 31 clasp to clasp (biggest Edward necklace I have ever seen). Matching earrings for pierced ears. Fortunately this still has it’s matching earrings. I believe this must have been in a collection and never used. Sadly, Carlene died in 2014, so unfortunately she will no longer be handcrafting her precious handcrafted necklaces. I very rarely can find these CARLENE LEEKITY special handmade pieces of art… Most are now in museums and private collections. Sometimes they are pawned (for badly needed cash) and I get them for you when available. Circa: Unknown Excellent condition. No damaged or cracked stones. Sterling has tarnish which is to be expected on antique/vintage sterling silver items. Genuine natural TURQUOISE, BLACK ONYX, RED CORAL and MOTHER OF PEARL SEASHELL stones painstakingly hand-set in the very labor intensive handcrafted MOSAIC style of jewelry making.
