Lawrence and Griselda Saufkie were important to the growth of Hopi American Indian Overlay jewelry. They traveled the world talking about Hopi and Hopi Jewelry. It was Lawrence’s father, Paul Saufkie and Fred Kaboutie, who began this new (new in the 1930’s) jewelry style and taught it to Hopi Silversmiths and GI’s returning after WWII. Lawrence was a major proponent of Hopi Overlay, an extraordinary silversmith and a mentor to many of today’s top silversmiths. Lawrence was designated an Arizona Living Treasure in 2002. This buckle has been beautifully crafted by master Hopi silversmiths Lawrence and Griselda Saufkie. It shows a Parrot bird and kiva steps within a Hopi bird wing design. This buckle shows wonderful detail. The buckle measures 2 7/8″ across x 1 1/8″ tall and weighs 36.5 grams. The loop at the back will fit a belt up to 1 wide. It is hallmarked with Griselda’s snowflake hallmark and Lawrence’s bear hallmark. This buckle is in great vintage condition. Extremely Rare Vintage Marcus Amerman Native American Choctaw Artist Crow Beaded Belt Buckle and Handmade Leather Belt. Beautiful cut glass beads with vibrant colors and a fantastic sparkle. Signed on the back with the artists signature. The buckle measures about 3.75″ wide and 2.75″ tall. Leather belt is handmade in three sections that are hand stitched together. It fits about a 32-34 waste. It is difficult to measure the size of the belt as it it curved, not straight.

This sterling silver turquoise and pyrite belt buckle is a unique and rare piece, handcrafted by Native American artisans. The intricate design combines elements of Western Americana culture, making it a highly sought-after collectible. With its beautiful turquoise stone and pyrite accents, this belt buckle is a stunning representation of Native American craftsmanship and heritage. There is no signature of the artist that I can see but there is an etched rectangular shape on the back of the buckle where maybe an artist would have put in their initials, name or logo. It is a very fine and very unique piece of Native American Arts and Crafts. I have yet to see anything more beautiful or even close to this example. Incredibly unique vintage sterling silver Zuni Helen and Lincoln Zunie signed inlay Zuni Hereford Cow/Bull ranger belt buckle set. This is an incredibly rare vintage Zuni hand made ranger set that we have never seen before with these colors. Here is an incredible example of their work. This four piece ranger belt set is adorned by a gorgeous Hereford Cow/Bull created with tortoise shell, red abalone, yellow shell, black jet, black shell, red coral, turquoise, mother of pearl and sterling silver. This stunning belt buckle measures nearly 8 inches long and the gorgeous black leather belt is a size 34 and can easily be changed to custom fit. Signed H-L Zunie by the husband and wife silversmith team. Absolutely all pieces are sterling silver, signed and handmade.

See the photos of this nice, all original and stunning belt buckle made by this famed Navajo artisan. I have owned this since the 1980s and have never before offered it for sale. It’s 2 3/8 x 3 inches and weighs 54 grams. It takes a belt that is 1 1/2 inches wide or less. Great hand chasing with a beautiful oval cabochon of turquoise with a great matrix in it. The metal work has to be seen to truly appreciate the expertise exhibited. Great, pleasing natural patina. Nice, clear signature on the reverse. I believe that Bahe made very few of these if he made any more at all. This may be a one of a kind. There are no errant “watery” marks on the stone as the photo makes it appear.
